La película de Guillermo del Toro lidera con 13 nominaciones; el mexicano es favorito a ganar Mejor director
Luego de triunfar en los premios Globos de Oro, Critics’ Choice y PGA (Sindicato de productores), la cinta de Guillermo del Toro, La forma del agua (The Shape of Water), es el rival a vencer en los premios Oscar 2018, que premiarán a lo mejor del cine durante el 2017.
Otra de las favoritas a llevarse varios premios es Tres anuncios por un crimen (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), mientras que la sorpresa del día es la ausencia de James Franco, que había sido nominado como mejor actor en prácticamente todas las premiaciones anteriores.
